Mr. DeCoste is a Miami based criminal defense attorney with over 17 years
experience handling criminal cases.
He has defended thousands of clients in state and federal court. Moreover,
he has worked tirelessly on those cases to get the best results, either
through significantly reduced pleas, successful motions or acquittals.
Simply put, he wants a happy client above all else, not just a closed
case. To do this, he approaches each case in a different and always creative
manner. Just going through the regular steps will not always yield the
best result. He thinks both inside and outside of the box, applies his
extensive legal knowledge, and works until he gets what both the client
and he thinks is right.
Prior to founding the Law Office of Christopher DeCoste, P.A. in 2008,
Mr. DeCoste worked as a Prosecutor in Miami-Dade. During his tenure he
was selected as a specialized prosecutor with the Career Criminal / Robbery
Unit where he handled murder cases and cases involving complex facts.
He was also selected as a specialized prosecutor for the Traffic Homicide
Investigations Unit. During his time as a prosecutor he handled thousands
of cases with charges ranging from misdemeanors to murder. This allows
Mr. DeCoste to get inside the mind of a prosecutor, his opponent, because
he knows firsthand why cases are prosecuted, how they are prosecuted,
and all the strategies a prosecutor uses in search of a conviction.
Mr. DeCoste is a lifetime member of the Florida Association of Criminal
Defense Attorneys. In 2020 its membership honored him the Rodney Thaxton
“Against All Odds” Award. This award is given to a criminal
defense attorney who having undertaken a particularly difficult or unpopular
client or cause represents the heart and spirit of criminal defense and
who epitomizes the courage to stand apart and often alone as Liberty’s
Last Champion.
He is a graduate of Villanova University with a Bachelor of Science degree
in Business Administration and received his Juris Doctorate from Suffolk
University Law School. While in law school he served as Associate Managing
Editor of the Moot Court Board Journal of Trial and Appellate Advocacy.
He was also selected to be one of only four advocates for the school's
top ranked national trial team.
Mr. DeCoste is wholly dedicated to using all of his experience and knowledge
to defend the rights and best interests of each and every client.
